SANAA, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Shiite Houthi rebels said they have bombarded a Saudi military boat off the Yemeni Red Sea port of Midi on Wednesday, the rebel-run Al-Masirah TV channel reported.

"The Yemeni naval forces bombarded and destroyed a Saudi military boat off Midi port, killing all aboard," the rebels said.

Midi is a rebel-controlled port in the Yemeni northwestern province of Hajjah.

There was no immediate comment from Saudi Arabia.

The alleged attack came amid intensified airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition warplanes on the rebel-controlled Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, located south of Midi.

Hodeidah port is a lifeline for millions of Yemeni people.

Saudi Arabia has warned the Houthi militias not to hinder the freedom of navigation and global trade in the Red Sea.

The Saudi government has been accusing Iran of supporting the Houthi rebels through the supply of weapons and missiles. Both Houthis and Iran denied the accusations.

Saudi Arabia is leading an Arab military coalition that intervened in the Yemeni conflict in 2015 to support the government of exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
