ATHENS, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- A passenger car collided with a truck in northern Greece on Saturday, killing all eleven people inside the car, official AMNA news agency reported.
The accident occurred on the outskirts of the city of Kavala, about 150 km west to the border with Turkey and 300 km north of Athens. According to initial reports from local police, the victims were either refugees or migrants who had entered Greece from Turkey.
The car was engulfed in flames after the collision, while the truck driver was slightly injured.
About 12,000 migrants and refugees have so far crossed into Greece from the land border with Turkey since the start of 2018, according to Greek authorities.
