RIZHAO, China, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- 16-year-old Wang Jianjiahe snatched her first victory in the women's 100m freestyle on the first day of the Chinese National Swimming Championships here on Saturday.
Wang, who smashed 400m freestyle short-course world record in the FINA World Cup in Budapest on Oct. 4 and world junior record in 800m two days later, came from behind to the 100m freestyle in a time of 54.77 seconds. Ai Yanhan finished second in 54.85 and Li Bingjie third 55.14. Pacesetter Zhang Yufei came to fourth in 55.16 and later placed 6th in 200m butterfly in which Zhu Jiaming won in two minutes 9.47 seconds.
Fu Yuanhui, Olympic bronze medalist in 100m backstroke, failed to enter the final as she touched home 56.33 and placed 12 in the heats.
"I did not train after the Jakarta Asian Games since September, so I was happy with the time in freestyle, "said Fu, who made her name "Supernatural Girl" at the Rio Olympics.
Qin Haiyang celebrated his victory in the men's 200m individual medley in 1:57.50 while Wang Lizhuo claimed title in men's 100m breaststroke clocking 59.95.
In other men's events, Cheng Long swam 15:16.13 to win the 1,500m freestyle; team Zhejiang was the strongest in the 4X200m freestyle relay.
Jiang Yuru won the women's 200m backstroke in 2:13.08 and Suo Ran topped the women's 50m breaststroke in 31.66.
A total of 41 events to be held during the five-day national swim meet.
