JAKARTA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The 2018 Mandiri Jakarta Marathon slated to take place on October 21 has been rescheduled, according to the event's organizing committee.
In a statement, a spokesperson for title sponsor Bank Mandiri apologized for the postponement of the event, adding that this decision had been taken to ensure the planned route was in the best condition possible for the 9,500 registered runners.
However, the statement did not give further details on a new date for the marathon.
A total of 16,000 runners took part in last year's Jakarta Marathon, of whom 1,585 were foreigners. Morocco's Anouar el Ghouz won the race in a time of 2:21:23.
