SHANGHAI, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Art works of Edward Munch (1863-1944), the world famous Norwegian expressionist painter, will be exhibited in Beijing and Shanghai from the summer of 2019 to the spring of 2020.
The exhibition will be jointly held by the National Museum of China in Beijing, the Shanghai Museum and Munch Museum (the Munch-museet) in Norway, to promote cultural exchanges between China and Norway. The artist's oil paintings and printmaking works will be displayed.
"During the Norwegian royals' visit to China in 1997, over 50 works of Edward Munch were displayed at the Shanghai Museum, including his best-known work 'The Scream,'" said Yang Zhigang, curator of the Shanghai Museum. "Next year, the Munch-museet will impress Chinese audiences with more representative works of the painting master."
