RIYADH, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Saudi public prosecution warned on Friday of the circulation of messages through social media with sexual connotations.
It tweeted through its official Twitter account on Friday that the punishment could be two years' jail term and fine of up to 26,666 U.S. dollars.
Although, the authority hasn't stated the reason for such warning, but it is part of efforts to limit the negative use of social media, especially practices that could harm the social stability in the country.
Saudi Arabia has been also active in combating the exploitation of social media to promote terrorism and extremism, especially efforts to recruit Saudi youth by militant groups.
