TEHRAN, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman slammed recent visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Oman, according to the ministry's website on Saturday.
"The Israeli regime is seeking to create rifts among the Islamic countries and cover up its 70-year occupation of Palestine," Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said.
The remarks came in reaction to Netanyahu's trip to Oman on Thursday, the first official meeting at this level since 1996.
"Muslim states should not allow Tel Aviv to create further trouble for the region under pressures from the United States," said Qasemi.
"History shows that submission to the illegitimate demands of the United States and the usurper Zionist regime (of Israel) will further embolden them to exert more pressures," the spokesman added.
Oman has been one of the Arab countries which has had a steady and balanced relations with Iran over the past five decades.
