HANOI, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues in the first 10 months of this year increased 11.4 percent on-year to nearly 3,613 trillion Vietnamese dong (roughly 157.1 billion U.S. dollars), according to its General Statistics Office on Wednesday.
Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales rose 12.2 percent to over 2,719 trillion Vietnamese dong (118.2 billion U.S. dollars), with sales of food and foodstuffs growing 13 percent, garments growing 12.6 percent, home appliances growing 12 percent, cultural and educational items growing 11.6 percent, and means of transport growing 11.6 percent.
Localities with highest growths in goods retails sales between January and September include Ho Chi Minh City (up 13.3 percent), central Thanh Hoa province (up 13.2 percent), central Binh Dinh province (up 12.7 percent), northern Thai Nguyen province (up 12.6 percent), and Hanoi capital city (up 11.8 percent).
In the 10-month period, restaurant and accommodation revenues stood at 440.1 trillion Vietnamese dong (19.1 billion U.S. dollars), up 8.3 percent, and tourism revenues were 33.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (more than 1.4 billion U.S. dollars), up 15.6 percent, said the office.
Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues surpassed 3,934 trillion Vietnamese dong (171 billion U.S. dollars) last year.
