KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least six militants have been killed and three others injured as government forces launched cleanup operations in Kandahar, said a local official here on Tuesday.
According to the official with the public relation office of the provincial government, who declined to be identified, the operations covered parts of Miwand, Jalai and Panjwai districts in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Six security personnel, including two soldiers and two police personnel, have also been injured, the official added.
More than 30 anti-personnel and anti-vehicle mines have been discovered and defused, the official said.
Taliban militants have not commented.
