FOSHAN, China, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- The second USIP World Police Service Pistol Shooting Championship opened Wednesday in China's Foshan, Guangdong province.
69 teams of 256 police officers from 68 member countries and regions of the International Police Sports Union (USIP), including Russia, Pakistan, India, Brazil and Italy, gathered at the Guangdong provincial police training center for the competition, which lasts until November 19.
As a regular USIP event, the contest features ten different stages designed to emulate situations that police officers may face in the line of duty, such as handling attacks in public areas and breaking into rooms for rescue and capture.
In order for China's representatives to prepare for this championship, the 24th Chinese Police Service Pistol Shooting Competition was held in August at the same training center in Foshan, with eight Chinese police officers ultimately being selected for the competition proper.
The first edition of the championship was held in Budapest, Hungary in 2015.
