NEW DELHI, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The two-week long National Tribal Festival begins in India's capital on Friday to celebrate, cherish, and promote the spirit of tribal craft, culture, cuisine and commerce.
The festival is being organised at three different venues in Delhi.
Jointly organised by the country's Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), the festival will present the display and sale of items of tribal art and craft, tribal medicine and healers, tribal cuisine and tribal folk performances in which tribal artisans, chefs, folk dancers and musicians from as many as 23 Indian states showcasing rich traditional culture.
Under the theme "Celebration of Spirit of Tribal Culture, Craft, Cuisine and Commerce", the festival will feature exhibition and sale of tribal handicrafts, art, paintings, fabric, jewelery at more than 100 stalls and pavilions. More than 200 tribal artisans from different states, setting up a mini-India, will exhibit in the festival.
According to an official statement issued by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the highlights of the festival will be live demonstration of making traditional Mahua wine, making lac bangles, and four different school of paintings. Besides, a fashion show of tribal textiles, fashion accessories, and traditional tribal cuisines will be organised at the festival.
