RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's President-elect Jair Bolsonaro announced on Tuesday via Twitter that he has picked Tarcisio Gomes de Freitas as minister of infrastructure.

The Ministry of Infrastructure is one of the new, augmented offices in the future Bolsonaro administration and will handle logistics, air, land and water transportation.

Freitas started his career in the Brazilian Army, working as a civil engineer after graduation from the Army's Military Institute of Engineering (IME). He later left the Armed Forces to work as a civil servant at the Federal Comptrolling Office. He has been serving as executive director of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) since 2011.

At the press conference following the announcement, the future minister said his goals would be "solving the logistics problems in Brazil, delivering projects, generating development and jobs."

"He is an extremely qualified person for this difficult mission," Bolsonaro said.
