GAZA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Islamic Hamas movement announced on Wednesday that its Politburo Chief, Ismail Haniyeh, has received an official invitation from Russia to visit Moscow soon.
Haniyeh's office said in a press statement that the Foreign Ministry of Russia invited Haniyeh to visit Moscow soon. The statement didn't specify the time of the visit.
The statement said that the invitation was handed by Haydar Rashid, the diplomatic representative of Russia in Ramallah, during a meeting with Haniyeh held at his office in Gaza earlier Wednesday.
The Russian diplomat said that his country is exerting efforts on all levels to support the Palestinian cause, according to Hamas statement.
Russia is having ties with Hamas movement and had repeatedly received several Hamas delegations in Moscow, although Hamas was listed by the United States and Europe as terrorists.
