BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Former Argentina international striker Lisandro Lopez struck his 12th goal in 14 matches as Racing Club extended their lead at the top of the Superliga Argentina standings on Sunday with a 1-0 home victory over San Martin SJ.
Lopez sent a looping header past goalkeeper Luis Ardente after a curling diagonal pass from Ricardo Centurion in the 35th minute at the Cilindro.
Racing now hold a six-point lead over second-placed Defensa y Justicia as the season approaches its midway point.
San Martin SJ fell to 21st in the 26-team standings, 22 points behind the leaders.
Meanwhile, Emiliano Amor scored in the 91st minute to fire 10-man Aldosivi to a 2-1 victory at Argentinos Juniors.
Leonel Galeano put the visitors ahead with a 14th minute strike but he became the villain early in the second half when he gave away a penalty by handling in the area.
Alexis Mac Allister converted the spot-kick and the hosts were boosted further when Emiliano Ozuna was dismissed for a second rash foul in 10 minutes.
However Aldosivi defended resolutely before clinching an unlikely victory in second-half stoppage time.
In Sunday's only other match, Huracan held Gimnasia to a 2-2 draw in La Plata. Enditem
