ACCRA, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana FA's Normalization Committee(NC) on Friday announced that it has created a new competition structure to bring back official domestic football activities in the country.

The new competition, which will involve all 16 elite and 48 second-tier clubs, is expected to keep the clubs active during the Confederation of African Football (CAF) normalization process.

It is also to produce Ghana's representatives for the next CAF champions league as well as confederation cup.

The new competition is scheduled to start on January 26 and end on April 21, 2019, Kofi Amoah, president of the NC said in a release issued in Accra.

The committee said it appreciates the quest for its members and football-loving Ghanaians for the sport to return hence the extra effort it has put in place to find the needed resources for this special contest.

Football activities were halted following the premiere of a documentary by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which exposed corruption and rot in football administration in Ghana.

In a related development, the NC said it is also finalizing arrangements for the resumption of the Women's regional football competition.

The committee said it is looking forward to an exciting return of domestic football in the country with the support of all stakeholders.

"We urge all football fans to embrace the fresh opportunity and patronize the upcoming matches at the various venues," said the release.
