RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Sao Paulo have signed former Real Madrid B striker Pablo Teixeira on a four-year contract, the Brazilian club said on Wednesday.
The six-time Brazilian Serie A champions reportedly agreed to pay six million euros plus up to a million euros in add-ons to prise the 26-year old from Atletico Paranaense.
"From the beginning of our conversations we saw in Pablo what is most important to us: his desire to wear the Sao Paulo shirt. That gave us the peace of mind to sign him, even knowing the interest and competition of other clubs," Sao Paulo's football manager Alexandre Passaro said in a club statement.
Teixeira helped Atletico Paranaenese win the Copa Sudamericana earlier this month and was the competition's equal top scorer with five goals. He also netted 12 times in the Serie A.
"I get a tingle just thinking that I'm going to play in Sao Paulo," he said. "We started the talks some time ago and Sao Paulo was always my first choice because of their plans and their history."
