HANOI, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Up to 131,275 enterprises with total registered capital of over 1,478 trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 64.3 billion U.S. dollars) were set up in Vietnam in 2018, up 3.5 percent in quantity and 14.1 percent in capital from last year.
Of the new firms, 35.3 percent involved in wholesales and retails, 12.9 percent in construction, 12.3 percent in manufacturing and processing industries, 7.6 percent in science, technology and consulting services, among others, according to Vietnam's General Statistics Office on Friday.
This year, 34,010 firms, which had temporarily ceased operations due to different difficulties, resumed their activities, up 28.6 percent from 2017.
Meanwhile, 16,134 enterprises were dissolved, up 34.7 percent. Of the dissolved businesses, 91.2 percent had capital of below 10 billion Vietnamese dong (435,000 U.S. dollars).
