DOHA, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Thursday discussed with Iraqi President Barham Salih the bilateral ties and means of boosting cooperation in various fields.
Qatari Emir's office said on its website that the two leaders discussed the means of boosting cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure, tourism and reconstruction of Iraq.
They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, it said.
Sheikh Tamim highlighted the depth of the relations between the two sides, saying Salih's visit would benefit the relations and help them prosper.
For his part, the Iraqi president also hailed the "deep" relations between the two countries, voicing confidence they would further develop for the good of the two nations.
Salih invited Sheikh Tamim to visit Iraq, and the Qatari leader accepted the invitation.
The visit is the first ever by the Iraqi president after assuming his office in October last year.
