SINGAPORE, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.22 percent or 38.84 points to close at 3212.30.
A total of 1.60 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.17 billion Singapore dollars (about 866.67 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 252 to 157.
The STI index went down 0.79 percent or 25.19 points to close at 3173.46 on Monday.
