NEW DELHI, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- A strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale Thursday morning hit India's Nicobar Islands, according to Indian Meteorological Department.
"The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 7.6 degrees north latitude and 94.5 degrees east longitude," information released by the department said. "The depth of the earthquake was 84 km."
So far there were no reports of any damage or loss of lives in the earthquake.
