SHIJIAZHUANG, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chongli will accelerate its preparation work for 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, with 37 projects resuming construction and 6 others starting construction this year, local authorities said on Wednesday.
The Chongli district of Zhangjiakou, north China's Hebei province, which is about 200 kilometers northwest of Beijing, will stage most of the skiing events during the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Major construction of five competitive venues in Chongli is expected to be finished this year. Construction of the athletes village is underway and the designated work for the year is also expected to be completed.
The high-speed railway line linking Beijing and Zhangjiakou will open this year, and the expressway between Beijing's Yanqing and Zhangjiakou's Chongli, the two competitive zones of the 2022 Winter Olympics, will also go into operation this year.
"Chongli will strengthen its service standards of food, accommodation, entertainment, medical treatment, volunteer and other aspects this year, to boost its soft power for 2022 Winter Olympics," said governor of Chongli district Zhao Zan.
