ASUNCION, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Shenhua's Paraguay international midfielder Oscar Romero said Monday that this year's Copa America will mark the start of a new cycle for the South American team.
Paraguay have been drawn in Group B alongside Argentina, Colombia and Qatar for the continental tournament, to be played in Brazil from June 14 to July 7.
"We are in a process of several changes, the idea is to be playing well when the tournament starts and, on a personal level, try to give my all for the team," Romero told reporters.
The 26-year-old added that he hopes Juan Carlos Osorio will continue as head coach amid reports linking him to the vacant Colombia coaching job.
Osorio, who was appointed Paraguay boss in September just weeks after leading Mexico to the last 16 of the World Cup in Russia, has made no secret of his desire to take charge of his home country's national team.
"I'm not aware of the situation. It's a personal decision for him [Osorio]," Romero said. "He is a great manager... Ideally he would continue with us because we have a very important period coming up."
Romero made 17 Chinese Super League appearances for Shanghai Shenhua last year after completing a loan spell at Spain's Alaves.
