RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international striker Diego Tardelli has joined Gremio after agreeing to a three-year contract with the Porto Alegre club.
The 33-year-old arrives as a free agent, having parted ways with China's Shandong Luneng in January.
"Gremio officially confirm the definitive signing of striker Diego Tardelli," the Brazilian Serie A side said in a statement late on Tuesday. It added that the former Real Betis forward would undergo a medical on Wednesday.
Capped 14 times for Brazil's national team, Tardelli scored 41 goals in 73 Chinese Super League appearances for Shandong Luneng, whom he joined from Atletico Mineiro in 2015.
According to Brazilian media reports, Gremio beat off interest in Tardelli from several local clubs, including Atletico Mineiro. Enditem
