HAVANA, Feb.25 (Xinhua) -- Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov is making a work visit to Cuba, said the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Monday.
Titov is in the Caribbean island to chair the next meeting of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two nations.
The senior Russian official held a meeting on Monday with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez. During the meeting they stressed the mutual will to continue strengthening the diplomatic, economic, commercial, and cultural cooperation ties.
"During the cordial reunion, both parties noted the excellent state of the bilateral relations, marked by the existence of a political dialogue at the highest level," said the statement.
Russia and Cuba, as allies since the times of the Cold War era, still maintain close ties.
