JAKARTA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The number of spectators in the forthcoming MotoGP Indonesia 2021 in Lombok Island of West Nusa Tenggara province is forecast to break a sub-regional record, a senior official announced here on Tuesday.
The number of spectators is forecast to reach 300,000 people, exceeding the current record held by Thailand with 200,000 spectators, said Abdulbar Mansoer, president director of Indonesian tourism development corporation (ITDC).
"This means the number of spectators will be the second highest, after China," he said.
Mansoer said that the grand stand of the circuit and hills situated around the area would accommodate the huge numbers of spectators.
Indonesia will be one of the hosts of the MotoGP race for 3 years starting from 2021 after the country won its bid to host the international race.
Mansoer said that the ITDC has clinched a promoter's agreement with Doma Sport SL for hosting the MotoGP 2021.
