Under a poverty alleviation campaign in winter 2007, four-year-old twin sisters Huang Xingqi and Huang Xingyi relocated with their parents from an impoverished mountain village to the Yunqi settlement in Yuping County. The family, which is from the local Dong ethnic group, had lived in a battered plank house back on the mountain before moving to their present three-storey residence, which offers substantially improved living conditions.
