TOKYO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday, tracking gains on Wall Street late last week.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 172.32 points, or 0.80 percent, from Friday to 21,775.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 11.43 points, or 0.71 percent, at 1,627.15.
Machinery, precision instrument and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
