YAOUNDE, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Clarence Seedorf, head coach of Cameroon national football team Indomitable Lions, said ahead of a crucial clash with the Comoros that his team is in top form to "make it through".
Cameroon will host Comoros in Yaounde on Saturday in the final round of qualifying matches for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
"I am confident with the squad ahead of the match with the Comoros. It is a competitive lineup and I am sure we will make it through," Seedorf told a press conference here on Monday.
"In football, scoring goals come and go, you only continue to create chances and a better delivery. Our strikers have capabilities to score good goals," he added.
Standing second in Group B, Cameroon needs just one point to qualify for the competition scheduled to take place in Egypt later this year after the country was stripped of the hosting rights.
On Friday, Seedorf named a 23-man squad to face Comoros but no home-based players were part of the list.
"Cameroon has talent but we need experienced players ahead of the decisive match that explains why we did not go for home-based players. We don't want to introduce a new element in an important match like this," Seedorf said.
