ACCRA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's senior national soccer team the Black Stars opened camp here on Tuesday ahead of the final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Kenya's Harambee Stars on March 23.
Twenty-one players turned up on the first day of the training session with the number expected to increase to 24 with the arrival of Inter Milan's Kwadwo Asamoah, Caleb Ekuban and Daniel Opare, who received a late call-up to replace injured Andy Yiadom of Reading.
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah expressed satisfaction after supervising the day-one training session held at the Accra sports stadium.
The Black Stars will be seeking to revenge a 1-0 defeat they suffered to Kenya at the Moi International Sports Cente in the first leg of the AFCON qualification.
Both teams have qualified for the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
However, the match will determine who emerges tops in Group F which had Sierra Leone disqualified after they were suspended from international football by FIFA for government interference.
Kenya leads the group on 7 points while Ghana second on 6 points
The 2019 AFCON, with its new 24-format, will be held from June 15-July 13.
