RABAT, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Morocco has decided to send an urgent humanitarian aid to Mozambique, which was hit by Cyclone Idai last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said Saturday.
The cyclone hit southern Africa, causing hundreds of deaths in Mozambique and neighboring Zimbabwe and Malawi.
About 39 tons of humanitarian aid materials including tents, blankets and basic foodstuffs will be sent, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The aid came in response to the call for international assistance from the Mozambican authorities, the statement added.
