CAIRO, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) called on Monday for an international decisive reaction against the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's latest remarks about annexing the West Bank settlements if he wins another term.

Saeed Abu Ali, AL assistant secretary general for the occupied Palestinian and Arab lands, warned that the remarks would result in "dangerous repercussions."

He demanded the International Criminal Court to open an immediate official investigation about the continuous settlement crimes on the Palestinian territories.

"Netanyahu uses the settlement issue as a winning card for guaranteeing the right wing loyalty in his election campaign," he added.

Netanyahu told an Israeli TV channel on Saturday that he would start extending Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank settlements if getting re-elected in the elections on Tuesday.

Israel seized the West Bank in the 1967 war and there have been about 435,000 Israeli settlers there by 2017, according to official Israeli figures.

The Palestinians are seeking to establish an independent state on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as the capital, though East Jerusalem has been under Israeli occupation as well.
