LONDON, April 15 (Xinhua) -- France defeated Argentina 3-2 on aggregate to be crowned world champions at the FIFA eNations Cup here on Sunday, nine months after their national team lifted the trophy at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

France defeated Brazil and Portugal in the knockout stage to reach the final, playing against a strong Argentine side that fended off hosts England and Denmark.

Corentin "Maestro" Thuillier of France held Playstation No. 1 Nicolas "Nicolas99FC" Villalba of Argentina to a 1-1 draw in the first leg and it was up to France's Lucas "DaXe" Cuillerieris and Argentina's Gabriel 'Yagocai' Fawaz to decided the eventual winners on Xbox.

The 'DaXe' opened the deadlock through Kylian Mbappe and doubled the lead in the first half. Although 'Yagocai' managed to pull one back after the restart, the Frenchman put up a tough defense to seal the victory.

"I'm very happy we're able to give France the first ever FIFA eNations Cup, it's an amazing moment to win it," 'DaXe' said. "We never play a final - we win a final. We did the job. Allez Les Bleus!"

China finished the tournament with two wins, two draws and eight losses in the group match, unable to make it into the knockouts.

The first ever FIFA eNations Cup is an invite-only exhibition event and introduced a new format of national teams and member associations competing against each other in a team competition on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019. The winners are awarded 1,500 ranking points and 40,000 U.S. dollars.
