Romania, Vietnam agree to boost exports of Romanian products

BUCHAREST, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Romania and Vietnam decided on Monday to accelerate the national procedures for exports of Romanian agricultural and livestock products to the Vietnamese market.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry of Romania and the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority of Vietnam, in the presence of Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and her visiting Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Phuc's visit is the first of a Vietnamese prime minister to the eastern European country in over 40 years.

"We agreed to speed up the national procedures establishing the necessary conditions to carry out exports of Romanian products of animal origin, honey and beekeeping products on the Vietnamese market," Dancila said within a joint statements with the Vietnamese prime minister.

According to her, Romania and Vietnam have achieved solid economic growth in the past few years, and bilateral trade volume has also shown an upward trend, providing a very broad potential for further economic cooperation between the two sides.

Romania hopes Vietnam will become an important partner of Romania in Southeast Asia, she stressed, adding that there are multiple economic cooperation opportunities in areas such as energy, oil and gas, automotive industry, information technology and agriculture.

The Vietnamese prime minister, for his part, told the media that he discussed with his Romanian counterpart about concrete efficient measures to promote bilateral relations, and also about international and regional topics of a common interest.

"Our discussions focused on cooperation in the education field and workforce," he said, stressing that his country hopes the bilateral cooperation relation to develop even more and the two countries become efficient and trustful partners.

According to Phuc, his delegation includes a number of Vietnamese businessmen, who will meet with their local partners in the bilateral economic forum on the same day, to exchange information, to connect, to find cooperation opportunities in fields such as oil and gas, petrochemistry, agriculture, food processing, workforce and tourism.
