TOKYO, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Thursday following the Nikkei's five-day winning streak, as U.S. shares' lackluster performance overnight set a negative tone here.
As markets opened here, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 13.49 points, or 0.06 percent, from Wednesday to 22,264.48.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, slipped 0.76 point, or 0.05 percent, at 1,629.92.
Pharmaceutical and precision instrument-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
