WUHAN, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese badminton super star Lin Dan claimed a straight-set win over Lu Chia Hung from Chinese Taipei in the 2019 Asian Badminton Championships here on Wednesday.
Crowned as the treble winner of the Championships, Lin showed no mercy to his opponent in each set, with an overwhelming score of 21-12 in the first set and 21-17 in the second.
These results paved Lin's way to his battle for the Top 8 in the next stage of the Championships.
"Age is not a problem," the 35-year-old Lin replied to the question about his "age issue" in the press conference held after the game.
"I realized the fact that gaps between the men's singles players are getting smaller, and every match will be tough to play. This could be challenging for me," Lin said. "But I have no intention to quit and will definitely go for the best, as there's no injury or any other reason to quit," he added.
Lin said it took time for him to adjust to the new rules introduced in 2016.
Lin also mentioned the tremendous support from his fans, who call him "Brother Lin."
"I always tell myself to try my best to live up to their expatiations on me as an older yet experienced player," Lin said.
