YANGON, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Large amount of narcotic drugs were seized in Myanmar's Sagaing region, said a release from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Saturday.
The seizure was made by police personnel from the Anti-narcotic task force in Indaw township on Friday morning.
A total of 836 soap boxes filled with 8.36 kg of heroin worth 836 million kyats (557,333 U.S. dollars) were confiscated along with 45,750 stimulant tablets worth over 1.06 billion kyats (709,833 U.S. dollars) from a car when it was intercepted on Shwebo-Myitkyina highway in the township.
Three suspects on the car were charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances law.
