GUANGZHOU, April 28 (Xinhua) -- China's swimming star Sun Yang dominated the men's 400-meter freestyle at the FINA Champions Swim Series here on Sunday.
Sun, London Olympic champion of the event, led all the way to win the title with three minutes 42.75 seconds, which ranked first in the year.
"I am so happy to be back in Guangzhou," said Sun. "I broke the Asian record for the first time nine years ago in this venue."
Sun broke the Asian record to win the men's 1,500m freestyle at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.
"The audiences here are very supportive and they encouraged me. I will keep improving myself and I hope I can do my best at the 2020 Tokyo Games as well as the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games." He added.
Italy's Gabriele Detti came second in 3:46.75, while Aussie Jack Alan Mcloughlin was third in 3:47.89.
