GUANGZHOU, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Jonathan Viera scored as Beijing Guo'an extended their winning streak to eight in Chinese super league (CSL) by overcoming seven-time champions Guangzhou Evergrande here on Saturday.
Beijing continued to their eight-game winning run, leading the table by five points ahead of defending champions Shanghai SIPG.
"It is only a beginning for us, we haven't won anything, we must keep fighting in every match." Augusto said after the match.
Guangzhou's top scorer Anderson Talisca was absent from the top-of-the-table clash due to left knee injury.
The home side had chances to take the lead at home, but Huang Bowen's long range shot was denied by keeper Zou Dehai. Guangzhou's keeper Liu Dianzuo saved the team in the 18th minute to stop Augusto's solo. Viera sent the ball home one minute later but he was offside and the goal was cancelled.
Viera finally sent the ball into the far corner after a beautiful one-two with Augusto in the 64th minute. Guangzhou had chances to equalize but Yu Hanchao headed the ball to the side-netting in the 80th minute.
"We created a lot of chances in the first half but we didn't seize any." Evergrande's captain Feng Xiaoting said.
"We didn't do well in some details and made mistakes in our defensive line. It is the reason why we lost the game." He added. Enditem
