BEIJING, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Disney and Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" dominated the Chinese mainland's May Day Holiday box office, grossing over 1.2 billion yuan (about 178.3 million U.S. dollars) from May 1 to 4, according to China Movie Data Information Network.
The superhero movie took in around 80 percent of the Chinese mainland May Day Holiday box office.
From its debut on April 23 to 8 p.m. of May 4, the movie's total box office reached 3.8 billion yuan, ranking third in Chinese mainland box office history, only after the homegrown sci-fi "The Wandering Earth," at 4.65 billion yuan, and the Chinese action movie "Wolf Warrior 2," at over 5.6 billion yuan.
The movie broke a number of records in the 11 days after its release, including China's pre-sell box office, daily box office and imported movie's box office.
