BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors made it to the last 16 of the AFC Champions League with a game in hand as the South Korea giants scored a 1-0 away win over Beijing Guoan here on Tuesday.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Lee Yong swung in a cross to Kim Shin-wook who beat defender Yu Dabao by steering his header into the net.
Jeonbuk created havoc again in the 31st minute when Ricardo Lopez made his volley across the goalmouth before Lim Sun-young had his header blocked by Guoan goalkeeper Zou Dehai.
Han Kyo-won was sent clear just minutes after the break, but his angled drive was palmed away by Zou.
Guoan then fielded in hitman Zhang Yuning to strengthen their attack which turned out in vain.
With the defeat, Guoan tied Urawa Reds of Japan with seven points apiece in the group which was won by Jeonbuk.
In an early match, Shanghai SIPG squandered an early lead to tie Kawasaki Frontale of Japan 2-2, placing second in Group H.
