ULAN BATOR, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia imported vehicles worth 328.8 million U.S. dollars in the first four months of this year, up 15 percent year on year, the Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA) said Friday.
The Asian country imported a total of 25,571 cars and 7,251 heavy trucks in the January-April period, posting year-on-year increases of 40 percent and 14 percent respectively, the MCGA said in a statement.
The increase is largely due to an economic recovery of the resource-rich country, expansion in mining activity and implementation of several major infrastructure projects, said the MCGA.
Only 3 percent of all the imported cars in the period are new while the remainder are used ones, with most of them being at least two years old.
