BRATISLAVA, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Norway prevailed over Austria 5-3 on Friday and claims their first Group B win at the 2019 ice hockey worlds in Slovakia.
Until Friday, Norway were among three teams in Group B without any points earned and facing the threat of relegation from the elite category.
So far, Italy and Austria are still waiting for their first points at the tournament.
Norway managed to break Austria's resistance in the third period. In the first two, the Austrians were down a goal twice and they tied the game up each time. In the last period, Alexander Reichenberg put Norway into the lead for the third time and Christian Bull scored his second of the day after a great pass by Mathis Olimb to stretch it to 4-2. Bull completed his hat trick in the final minute with an empty-netter to crush the opponents' hope.
Norway will play against Italy, and Austria will challenge third-placed Czech Republic at the weekend. Enditem
