HERAT, Afghanistan, May 22 (Xinhua) -- A total of 300 youth were commissioned to the national army after completion of a 12-week military training course in the western Herat province, brigadier Nazir Ahmad, head of the military training course in the western region, said Wednesday.
The usage of various light and assault weapons, including war tactics had been thought to the newly graduated cadets, the official said, adding they would serve in Farah and Badghis provinces to stabilize security there.
The Afghan government has been recruiting more youth and training them military tactics to enhance the capability of security forces in the militancy-plagued country to fight the Taliban, al-Qaida and like-minded groups.
