BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Exotic horticulture and handicrafts at the Pakistan Garden have amazed global visitors at the ongoing International Horticultural Exhibition in Beijing.

The design of the garden was inspired by the historic Mughal gardens in Pakistan, renowned across the world, blending the concept of nature and geometry, said Eaana Humayun, representative of the Pakistan Garden.

With religious and ecliptic elements, the garden has been divided into several parts, including a viewing platform and flowing water running through the garden.

Traditional handicrafts with Pakistani characteristics, including jewelry, carpets and Pakistani jade, are also on display in the garden.

Handmade carpets, usually laid in the living room, play an important role in people's lives in Pakistan, said Humayun, adding each carpet takes one to two workers three to four months to complete.

"Our traditional handicrafts are not only for sale but also showcase our art and culture. I hope the visitors enjoy the garden," said Humayun.

The Beijing Expo, themed "Live Green, Live Better," is the world's largest expo of its kind and opened to the public on April 29 in Yanqing District. It will last until Oct. 7.

The expo has attracted exhibitors from 110 countries and international organizations. There are indoor displays and outdoor gardens, highlighting the integration of life and ecology.

It is estimated that 16 million visitors from around the world will visit the expo.
