SHENZHEN, South China, June 2 (Xinhua) -- No. 2 seed Chen Meng dethroned reigning champion Wang Manyu 4-1 to take the women's singles title at the ITTF China Open here on Sunday.
"I am satisfied with my performance in the tournament," Chen said.
Chen quickly found the rhythm to win the first game 11-3. After Wang took the second 11-8, Chen was lucky enough to win an edge ball for a 11-9 win in the third.
And the fourth game became crucial where Wang squandered her 8-3 lead as Chen stormed for a 7-0 run to overtake the lead 10-8, and converted her second game point 11-9. Then, Chen gave her opponent no chance in the fifth winning it 11-7.
It's the second singles title of the year for Chen who also won the Hungarian Open. En route to her final, the 25-year-old ousted three fellow Chinese players Sun Yingsha, Chen Xingtong and Zhu Yuling.
"I've met four of my teammates, I believe these matches could justify my progress in the training," Chen said.
