KATHMANDU, June 5 (Xinhua) -- China's actions in the trade tensions started by Washington showed its honesty and diplomatic maturity, a Nepali senior politician said here in an interview with Xinhua.

China has made valid and "convincing" points in the official white paper, titled "China's Position on the China-US Economic and Trade Consultations," which was released on Sunday to expound its position on economic and trade consultations with the United States, said Narayan Man Bijukchhe, chairman of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, adding that he believed many people around the world will support China like himself.

"China's attitude and response over the trade war is very mature. After multiple talks with U.S., most people agree with China and know that U.S. is not laying all truth. U.S. will eventually face the consequences," added Bijukchhe, saying that China's attitude "has made people admire the country."

"It is disappointing that the United States is withdrawing from its previous commitments over the issues of climate change and nuclear treaties and waging (trade) war against China," which reflects something is going wrong within the United States, he said.

Bijukchhe said that Washington's tariffs weapon violates the World Trade Organization's principle of promoting free trade and globalization.

As the trade talks between the United States and China have not yielded positive results, Bijukchhe expressed his worry that the trade tensions might last long, and said many industries would be impacted and people's living standard lowered as commodity prices rise and the employment rate sharply falls.

"If this trade war continues and ends up causing trade crisis in the future, it will affect all the parties involved," he added.
