KABUL, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Four militants have been killed and the Taliban attack on security checkpoints in northern Samangan province has been repulsed, an army spokesman in the northern region Abdul Hadi Jamal said Monday.
Taliban militants, according to the official, launched massive offensive on security checkpoints in Khuskhk Dara area of Dara-e-Suf Payen district early Monday morning, triggering heavy gun battle which lasted for a while, and the militants fled away after leaving four bodies behind.
Three militants and two Afghan soldiers sustained injuries in the firefight, the official added.
Taliban fighters have not commented.
