VALLETTA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- 97 asylum seekers were rescued on Monday night by the Armed Forces of Malta(AFM), less than a week after 370 migrants were saved under similar circumstances, local media reported.
The rescue took place in the Maltese search and rescue zone.
The saved migrants disembarked in Malta on Tuesday morning and were immediately taken to the Marsa Open Center to be documented.
Some of the migrants were believed to be Nigerians, but an AFM spokeswoman said their nationalities were still to be ascertained.
This group of migrants included two women and two children.
