SANAA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels on Wednesday denied launching a bomb-laden drone toward Saudi Arabia over the past 12 hours, the group's al-Masirah TV reported.
"We have not launched any drone over the past 12 hours," the television quoted Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea as saying.
Earlier in the day, the Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen announced the interception of a bomb-laden drone heading toward the kingdom, Al Arabiya TV reported.
The drone, launched from Yemen's eastern city of Hodeidah, was destroyed while flying past the northwestern province of Hajjah, it claimed.
The Houthi's attacks against Saudi civilian sites have witnessed an increase in frequency and intensity in recent weeks.
Last week, 26 civilians were injured in a projectile attack that targeted Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport.
Saudi Arabia has been leading the war in Yemen for more than four years in support of the Yemeni exiled government against the Iran-allied Houthi rebels.
