KUNMING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province have arrested three suspects for drug trafficking with 27.83 kg of methamphetamine seized, local authorities said Tuesday.
On July 2, police in Changning County, city of Baoshan, received a tip-off that some drug dealers from abroad planned to smuggle drugs into China. A work team was sent immediately to investigate the case.
On July 10, the police intercepted a car in the city of Jinghong, Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna, and seized 48 packages of methamphetamine weighing over 27 kg in the car trunk.
Further investigation is underway.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
